History
The Biltmore Resort, a landmark of Phoenix, was the dream and vision of one of America’s most well-known architects, Frank Lloyd Wright. The buildings are made from “Biltmore Block,” one of Wright’s favorite materials previously used to construct his residential housing developments. From the 1930s until today, it has been a destination for the wealthy and those of celebrity status. Irving Berlin is noted to have drawn inspiration for many of his show tunes, including White Christmas, from the resort. Every president from Herbert Hoover to Barack Obama has been a guest. The resort has changed hands numerous times and has undergone many renovations. One of the most notable owners was chewing gum mogul William Wrigley, Jr. The Wrigley Mansion still rests stop the small bluff overlooking the resort and neighborhood.
Attractions
The Biltmore Fashion Park is an outdoor shopping mall. Across the street is the Esplanade, an office complex with more dining establishments and an AMC Dine-In movie theater.
